Ice fishing in Rovaniemi on a secluded island takes you on an unforgettable journey into the heart of Lapland

Take part in the timeless tradition of ice fishing. You will travel in a sleigh pulled by a snowmobile to a nearby Lake Marrasjärvi, where you will learn ice fishing and enjoy sooty pot coffee and a snack by the open fire.

We drive along a snowy snowmobile trail towards a small island on a frozen lake

Once you have settled comfortably into the sled pulled by the snowmobile, our journey around Lake Marrasjärvi can begin. The engine starts, and we set off towards the ice fishing spot. The sled is filled with soft reindeer hides that will keep you warm during the journey.

Once we reach the island, the sounds of the snowmobile fades away, and we camp on the island's shore

We will light a fire in the campfire area, and if you want, you can even try to light the fire yourself. We will prepare traditional Finnish soot-pan coffee on the open fire and enjoy a snack.

We will teach you the basics of ice fishing

Learn how to drill a hole in the ice and try your luck with the ice fishing gear, while sitting comfortably on soft hides spread across the frozen lake. After a short fishing session, we will pack up our things and head back to the Kotatuli farm.
